Walking the talk

For over 25 + years I have initiated and driven a huge variety of projects, being passionate about making a positive difference. 

Successfully;

Promoting sustainable energy and active kids
Created and  grew the largest children’s mountain bike event in the world in 7 centres around NZ, (involving 29,000 children and 42,000 parents). Getting tens of thousands of kids and their families active in the outdoors, whilst also helping major corporate partners to achieve their business and social objectives. 
Partners; Meridian Energy -NZ sustainable energy company, Sport NZ, Avanti Bikes, NZCT.

Innovating marketing and fundraising to help those in crisis

Raising hundreds of thousands of $ to help those affected by conflict and disaster through innovative digital campaigns and community engagement. NZ Red Cross. As National Manager Community fundraising  I developed and managed; new national initiatives, events, digital fundraising, annual appeals, and integrated marketing / fundraising strategies. 

Engaging staff and promoting active lifestyles
With Westpac Bank built the New Zealand Business Games to be the largest single corporate games in NZ that engaged staff at all levels within a wide range of organisations, helping to build team work and encourage active lifestyles 
 

Empowering women 

Over 5 years worked with WISE (Women In Self Employment NZ) and major banks to help grow the network around NZ, develop a national conference and the first NZ  Business Women's awards. Helping hundreds of women to grow their businesses whilst enabling partners to engage its staff at the local level and build business.

Corporate Community Engagement 
Creating & growing a flag ship community event for hundreds of thousands of families for many years, acquiring and managing the private-public sector partnership between major sponsors and Wellington Council. 

Major partners included; Wellington Council, Fonterra, Tupperware, Kiwi Rail.

Campaigning for change
Successfully campaigning for better provision of more sustainable and active transport options.  Leading the successful Space4CyclingBristol 2016 campaign, working with volunteers on a limited budget. Managed all digital & printed marketing, increasing engagement on digital platforms by 400 - 900%. Resulted in 64% of elected councillors and new mayor supporting better cycling infrastructure

Peer 2 Peer Fundraising
Inspiring and helping individuals to challenge themselves and raise funds to make a difference. At Red Cross managed the first Challenge events.  As a volunteer with Bristol anti slavery charity - Unseen I created and managed their first bespoke challenge event, producing a positive ROI in the first year

 
Promoting healthier, active lifestyles to women and girls
Improving opportunities for women and girls to participate and lead, whilst also helping to raise the profile and change attitudes and behavior.  Set up the Womens Programme at Sport NZ, followed by work with the NZ Health Promotion agency.
Promoting cultural diversity
Increasing the understanding of different cultures through cultural festivals –helping to create, market and acquire sponsorship for Wellington Chinese New Year Festival, making it a major cultural festival enjoyed by the whole city.

 

 

Making things happen

I have worked with corporate, public sector organisations, NFP, communities and individuals to create and implement marketing , communications and events projects that  about change and  be a force for social good.

As a volunteer I have coached thousands of kids, walked and cycled  to raise funds, helped community groups raise their profile or bring about change, been on school boards, run cultural festivals and lots more.
